Phobias are a very common problem, and many people can experience a phobic response to whole range of different objects, animals, insects or situations.  It isn’t the object or situation that is the problem it is how the unconscious has learned to respond to it. A phobia is where we have developed an irrational fear of an object or situation that causes little or no danger. Phobias are learned responses and are linked to how our unconscious mind processes a situation or thing and how it has learned to react.  There is usually a strong avoidance behaviour connected with the phobia, and feelings of anxiety, loss of control and/or panic. Sufferers of phobias usually know their fear is irrational, but can find it difficult to control and overcome. Phobias are often categorised into specific phobias and social phobia.

Fear is a natural human response caused by real danger. For example, it would be natural for any of us to be scared when coming face to face with a wild, hungry animal, and fear would be a normal survival instinct to warn us against a possible life threatening situation.

Hypnotherapy, NLP and BWRT® are extremely effective treatments for specific fears and phobias. Following your initial consultation, we can collaboratively work out the best and most effective treatment for you. Fears and Phobias can be treated very effectively in hypnosis, as this treatment method can bypass the conscious mind and help the unconscious mind change its response to the fear or phobic response.
